What are you thinking right now about the upcoming year as far as your business or career are concerned. A quote I like, but haven't "memorized" goes something like, "Your attitude at the outset of a thing greatly affects the outcome of the thing". Having a good attitude about the business environment in 2010 is a good idea. I'm starting with that and the more I look at my online business and the business opportunities 2010 will bring, I get excited.

I've been nipping away at a financial goal I've set separately for my online business, with is really a web publishing business. What's that?

Basically I blog about small business ideas, and creating an income on the Internet from home. Another aspect that ties in is why I do this. The why of it is more about create a life by design than anything else. I started with a vision 3 years ago and decided that using the Internet to earn money from home was my surest way to realising that vision. Have you made the same decision?

Decisions are powerful and it pays to use the Internet to develop passive income in 2010. As I mentioned I have a separate income goal for my business opportunities and ideas online. I still take on projects off line, but my online business opportunities are a much better match to that vision I talked about.

So what am I doing in 2010?

Well I have a few goals or projects I'm committed to and while I'm always open to new business opportunities in 2010 I've got a few that I'm doing. Its funny how I'll hold a business idea for what seems like eternity. Talking myself into how it would work great, thinking of how much value it would add and how much money I'd make, and such. It's silly, you know?

The marketplace is the proving ground and taking a business idea from you mind to the marketplace is the work of an entrepreneur. It is what it is.

My Best Business Opportunities for 2010

So here are my best business opportunities for 2010. An idea worth mentioning is how some of my ideas, most really, are connected to work I've already done online that has netted results and income. The best tip for a would be entrepreneur is to just get started in business. Profitably will come later. I'd rather be where I'm at right now than when I first got started, mainly because there is more opportunity when you've created momentum.

The first opportunity I want to develop in 2010 is to enlarge my small business industry websites. I have a main site and a few others that talk more specifically on smaller niche topics. I basically want to develop a few more topics to blog or write about. Selling ad space on this network has been a steady profitable business opportunity. Starting a blog is one of the best investments for 2010 in my opinion.

By profitable business opportunity I mean for the money and time spent there is a return that justifies my attention. It wasn't always like that but it is now. Persisting in what already works in my business just makes simple sense so it's number one on my list of top business opportunities online in 2010.

The next business idea I'd like to explore, a new one for me, is creating a business that has a tangible product. I'm not sure if I want an affiliate product or a private labeled product. I'm leaning toward private label and will be looking at the capital outlay of Private labeling a few different products I have in mind.

Another of my goals for my online business is to create a community based website with user generated content. I've dabbled in this a little in 2009, with minimal results but it continues to grab my interest.

And the last business opportunity I like to develop in 2010 is to create a home based business idea using the Internet and a website and sell by years end. My income goal for this project will be 15k. Do you think that is reasonable? By the way if you have any experience in the items I've mentioned or have any business ideas for 2010 please share in the comments! I'd love to be involve in a discussion like that.

2010 will bring its challenges but I'd rather be online developing business concepts than anywhere else. The start up costs are very low and low cost business ideas are much more sustainable in tough times. There are very few expenses in my online business, the biggest being taxes. I like that in a business.

Passive business opportunities used to be a dream to me and I used to think multi-family housing or college rentals when I thought passive. It isn't the way it was 20 years ago, thank God, and you can get in on the action by investing a few hours a week, that's what I did.

Its not my main blog but it was the first one I started and I just don't have the heart to "kill it", you know what I mean?

Honestly I think a blog can be one of the best businesses to start in 2010, I mean you've got to have something to say but really, there isn't much else. I mean if you read any of my blogs you know I'm no Hemingway. And I don't need to be, I do fine and over time my grammar is improving. No doubt though I loose some visitors because of my acceptance of imperfection in my writing. Oh, well.

2010 is upon us, and it looks to be a year filled with opportunity. Marketing a business opportunity was the motivation for me to start blogging about small business and more specifically home based business ideas. I started looking for a solid business opportunity that's run from a home office around six months ago. I am wanting another income stream for my online business.

Here is the thing though, I want to do it my way. I want to make my own rules, set my own hours, and have some control over what I earn. That isn't asking to much is it?

I've narrowed my search down to two or three possibilities. I'm not letting the cat out of the bag as to what new business I'll add to my mix in 2010, I'm not 100% sure yet anyway.

Upside/Downside

There is an upside to every business idea. Every investment carries risk and most every business carries some sort of risk too. There will always be at least an investment of time, which for many of us is just as valuable, or more, as money.

Huge potential to earn, or upside, is great and having strong upside is important when choosing the best business opportunity to start, but here is the thing....

If your a new entrepreneur, the downside might play a bigger role in your success and certainly in your decision to start a business in the first place. Being a new entrepreneur and choosing a business idea with limited downside is not a bad idea. If you only have a couple sources of income its also a good idea to look at the downside of a business opportunity. If you can't loose, you can loose right? Many top business opportunities don't have a lot of downside, you just have to find them.

Personally I think the Internet offers some of the best opportunities to succeed as an entrepreneur, especially a first time entrepreneur, why?

Because the downside is so insignificant.

I mean you could do something as simple as start a blog, which is free. No downside there really. If you start a blog to earn money and you pick a topic that you have a strong interest in you will likely enjoy blogging about the topic while your money is on the way. ( It can take some time to start earning money by blogging)

2010 will prove to be a "new" year. In saying that I mean there are some wild cards with the economy and all. What will 2010 be like? Ask ten people and get 10 answers, right?

Times are changing and starting a business or even a couple simple businesses in 2010 that have limited downside is probably a smart idea. When evaluating 2010 best at home business opportunities ask yourself what happens if it doesn't work out and let the answer steer you to the best business to start.

I've employed several employees who carried a bachelors in business and more that really had their eyes opened when they were able to see in my business what had to happen in order to have success.

I was introduced to the home based business industry around 3 years ago when I started an online business opportunity in the personal development field. The differences in a home based business opportunity that was operated online and a traditional business were staggering, yet there were also many similarities.

I'd say the biggest difference in an online business idea and a regular small business is the potential to reach a larger market.

As with any business starting an online business should be done with some sort of a plan. I'd recommend getting clear on what it is you would like your new business idea to create in your life. What type of time will you have available to commit to building an online business? What type of financial commitment are you comfortable with? Will you be taking on any partners? Will your family participate in the business venture? If you are looking to decide what a good business to start would be you need to know what you looking to accomplish in terms of personal lifestyle impact. Once you have that figured out you'll be a big step closer in choosing the best business.

I'm reminded of a blog post I once read authored by Steve Pavalina, a personal development writer and online business entrepreneur. In the post he advised starting several businesses at once. At first I found that to be a bit odd but it really is good advise. Not every business idea you have is necessarily a successful business idea and investing a bunch of time, money and effort into a business idea that doesn't float is a waste. I'm a little bias and I understand that business opportunities develop and appear in many shapes and sizes. These are a few ways you can profitably increase your reach online, drive traffic, generate leads, and increase revenue with increasing expenses. Do them.

Another idea that many new home business entrepreneurs might miss is the importance of OWNING your own platform. That's not to say its not profitable to use the marking platform that you opportunity might provide, but owning your own is smart long term... keep in mind, if you playing the role of marketer and get paid when you attract new clients, then you have to own your marketing or your just promoting someone Else's.

Become an expert in the field you operate in and own your own brand. This includes your own domains, your own advertising channels, and your own websites and blogs. The business opportunity you promote should be able to change at any time, because it may need to at some point. Doing things like link building, SEO, and long term advertising are time consuming and expensive. If your just promoting a second party platform, you have no passivity should you need to move on. Another profitable idea, one that I've largely neglected, is to build an email list of people interested in what you offer. Its the first thing than experts say we should be doing. Over time a good email list that builds passively can become you most valuable asset. I've found it tough to consistently build my list, mainly because of direct approach. I don't join email list. So I don't promote my own. I'm convinced this is flawed and will change that in the up coming year. I suggest you do the same.

Having an email list of 20 thousand people is an asset in that when you see a smart product or service launched, you list can hear about it from you first and possibly purchase, leaving you a cut of the profits. The larger the list the greater the profitability. Starting a monthly newsletter is not a big deal. You can even deliver your most popular blog posts for the month.

Monetizing your website or blog.

In the beginning I didn't concentrate on monetizing my websites because I had no traffic. It takes traffic to earn money. I recommend adding AdSense or other affiliate links when your consistently receiving around 150 visitors per day.

Concentrate on one site that focusing on the business opportunity you promote. When your consistently are getting 150 or so visitors per month via search and other various ways, start to work on another site or blog that focuses on a different aspect of the same niche. Once it gets to that magic point monetise it via the same methods an repeat.

Another profitable idea that's really nothing new is building relationships with our existing customers, associates and client base. Find out what they need help with and help them. Be accessible and share information that has helped you along the way. Many times you just need to invite them to a conference call or send them a link to a site you've found valuable.

• If you have recurring billing memberships, Analise whether your getting value or not.

I like to access everything that goes out every couple of months so I can be focused on making more come in the rest of the time, this is a profitable idea for me and has been along the way.
