The chapter continues with Nel and Ichigo . . . and Pesche.  Remember him?  I always found him pretty funny. However, the humor in the manga is delivered a little different than the anime. Maybe it's because I watched the TV series first.  All I can say is that the manga rarely makes me laugh.  Although, it delivers its action pretty well.

Seeing Ichigo and Nel together is still pretty cute, though.

After a little comedic relief, the setting shifts back to Soul Society where all Shinigami gathered for Sasakibe's funeral.  It looks like I deeply underestimated Yamamoto's lieutenant.  Apparently Sasakibe had mastered his Bankai way before Kyouraku and Ukitake.  He was definitely captain material, but his loyalty to the old man was too great.  Too bad we'll never get to see his Bankai.

Meanwhile, Ichigo and the others plan to save a few hollows, however, Uryuu refuses (suspicious). By the looks of it, Halibel had been governing Hueco Mundo, until tyrant came to take her away. She wasn't the only one. Supposedly, many arrancar are being abducted to be used as Vanguard.

Luckily, Urahara offers assistance.  Dafuq did you come from?

He knows everything . . .

At this point, it's not so hard to predict Ichigo's actions.  Speaking of which, a new face appears with Ivan's medallion, discussing plans with Buckbeard, concerning Ichigo's Bankai.  They sure want his Bankai. Really looking forward to next week's chapter.  Off to Hueco Mundo it is!

It feels like the story is moving too fast.  Guess mangas have that effect.  I just hope this arc is not too short.

Guilty Crown 22: Final Impressions

There is no doubt that Guilty Crown was one of the most visually stunning to watch.  From the music to the animation, Guilty Crown became a favorite among many.  However, plot-wise and character-wise . . . it could use a little work.

I had pretty high expectations in the series(like so many others did), but it turned out to be very troll-like the way it messed with your emotions whenever a character died and in some occasions, brought characters back to life (cough cough - Gai).  I even stopped blogging about it because I preferred to keep the raging to myself.  It became quite easy to depict the similarities it had to Code Geass.  Although, I don't think it lived up to its predecessor. Still, despite the lack of character development(something I wish it had more of), I'm glad I watched it.  There was no bigger troll than "OH MA SHOE."  I don't think I've ever been so frustrated with a character in my life!  Yet that bittersweet ending almost made me cry.  Oh well, at least I got some pretty cool songs out of this. And that first episode . . . one of the best intro's I've ever seen!

Spring 2012 Anime Season Watchlist

Saint Seiya Omega

Summary: Koga is a 13-year old boy who assumed the role of the Saint of the Pegasus constellation. His undefeatable spirit and rebellious nature are strong, as is his single-minded determination. Saori Kido (the goddess Athena) also appears as the protector of peace and all living things - and the woman who raised Koga as a parent.  Mars kidnaps Athena to establish a new world order, and Koga stands up against Mars - via ANN.

Impressions: Being a big fan of the Saint Seiya franchise, there was no way I was going to pass this up. Just take a look at the (good looking) staff!  A handful were involved with Casshern Sins - a rather unorthodox anime I thoroughly enjoyed and judging from its mysterious atmosphere, I anticipate a similar tone for this series. Not only that, but the animation itself appeals more to an audience who were already fans of the original series(points to self) because, in contrast with Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas, Omega's character designs seem to stick to its original roots.  Can't complain there!

Summary: The sequel to Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?  In the story, a normal high school boy named Ayumu Aikawa gets killed during a spate of mysterious serial killings.  However, Ayumu is resurrected as a zombie by a necromancer girl named "Yu"(Eucliwood Hellscythe), who Ayumu had just met before dying.  Ayumu then accidentally deprives the magical girl Haruna of her powers, so she demands that Ayumu take her place in fighting her enemy Megalo - via ANN.

Impressions: Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? was recommended to me by a friend.  I eventually got around to it right after hearing the news about the sequel.  I figured the first season must have been good in order for there to be a second season.  A zombie in a mahou shoujo get up was strangely funny.  The sequel looks more ecchi but whatever - Hellscythe-domo is too cool to pass up!  She's like another Yuki Nagoto!

Kimi to Boku. 2

Summary: The sequel to Kimi to Boku.  The story revolves around four teens - the good looking twins Yuuta and Yuuki Asaba, the effeminate Shun Matsuoka, and the class head Kaname Tsukahara - who have known each other since early childhood.  While they are not necessarily good or bad friends, they continue to hang out well into high school.  The half-Japanese transfer student Chizuru Tachibana joins the circle of friends in this comedy about the everyday life of adolescence - via MAL.

Impressions: Must watch!  The group of high school friends that managed to capture the hearts of many girls, are back!  Must tame my fujoshi instincts!  It would be nice to watch something I know I'm going to enjoy this season.  Plus, I am very looking forward to seeing that romance between Chizuru and Mary blossom (If you're a guy reading this, you probably have no idea what I'm talking about).

Hyouka

Summary: Oreki, Houtarou is a high school boy who always acts passively.  One day, he enters "Koten Bu (Classic Literature Club)" as recommended by his elder sister.  There he meets Chitanda Eru, Fukube Satoshi, and Ibara Mayaka.  Chitanda is a calm beautiful girl but she turns into an embodiment of curiosity once she says, "I'm interested in it (Watashi, Kininarimasu)."  Fukube is a smiling boy with a fantastic memory, he never deduces anything on his own.  Ibara is a short girl and is strict with others and herself.  She loves Fukube, but he always dodges her approaches. They begin to investigate a case that occurred 33 years ago.  Hints of the mystery are buried in an old collection of works of the former members of Koten Club - a collection titled "Hyouka" - via MAL.

Impressions: Kyoto Animation!  The studio that brought us K-On!, Clannad, Lucky Star, Haruhi, and Nichijou. Need I say more?  When it comes to moe, KyoAni is the studio to go to.  However, the story claims to be a mystery.  I don't like mystery very much and I certainly did not enjoy Haruhi's mystery, but I'm an M! - so what do I care?  I also haven''t seen this many boys in the main cast since Haruhi, it's almost as if . . . wait.  Is this another Haruhi? *gasp*

Because Spring is such a busy season for me (school and such) I will have to cut back on my anime list this season - unfortunately.  This is just a list of other series I am interested in, but will have to contemplate my final decision after watching a few episodes :(

Tsuritama: The animation and vibrant colors is what keeps me interested.

Natsuiro Kiseki: An original anime featuring four members of SPHERE as seiyuu and that's as far as the summary goes.  Judging from the preview it looks like it will take a slice of life approach with no means of deep story telling or drama - maybe some supernatural occasions?  It reminds me of K-On! which fallows a group of high school friends and their light music club as an excuse for spending time together - which is fine with me :)

Sankarea: Another zombie theme.  Cool.

Accel World: The story revolves around a young boy with an inferiority complex who gets sucked into a medieval-like virtual world - with high tech looking mecha! :O

Sakamichi no Apollon: A coming of age story with . . . Jazz music?  Hmm . . .

Acchi Kocchi: The title is so cute, the animation looks so cute . . . I don't know.

Medaka Box: Interestingly enough, the manga has a lot to do with the hype of this series.  I haven't read the manga but I might end up taking a peek at it before diving into the anime.  The ecchi might have me walk away from it, though.  With #korezon being the exception, I do not plan on watching another ecchi unless it is insanely funny!

I ended up listing more titles than I thought.  I wouldn't be surprised if I end up watching all of them.  No!  I must resist!  >.<

Bleach Ch. 485

Dude!  It's so good!  Make the jump!

Once again, where it left off.  That cocky arrancar (oh yeah we find out Ivan and he are arrancar) gets his arm chopped off and so is seen laying on the ground, panting with pain, as he struggles to speak to his so called "master" . . . Buckbeard.  Buckbeard, who turns out to be a total tyrant - yes, worse than OH MA SHOE - declares to cut off his legs as well since he won't bother to use them.  It is very rude to speak to someone while laying down, regardless of your condition ;)  And so, just like that, he gets rid of the two arrancar because he can. That just goes to show you how merciless and evil he can be.

Meanwhile, back in Ichigo's room, Uryuu and the others are not even worried about Ichigo.  All is good with the friends . . . tra la la la la~  Until, finally Ryuunosuke gets a call from Soul Society giving him the bad news about Sasakibe's death.  Uryuu theorizes that Soul Society purposely gave Yuki, a common soldier, such detailed information because they wanted Kurosaki to know.  Hence, Soul Society expects Ichigo's cooperation in the near future.  As Ichigo contemplated that during one of his patrols . . . guess who shows up?

Fucken Nel!!  Where have you been?!!

Yess!!  Now, where's Ulquiorra?  I know he'll appear - I just know it!  Anywho, Nel drops from the sky and gives Ichigo one of her usual greetings :D  It appears that, Hueco Mundo is in trouble.

Back in Hueco Mundo, the quincy or "Vandenreich"(rolls eyes) ask Buckbeard whether it was alright to eliminate such valuable fighting machines like the arrancar and so the tyrant decides to dump this on us . .

She is alive?!

How did this happen?  Apparently, Buckbeard has plenty of arrancar to go around.

Kubo does not fail!  We are being spoiled with arrancar.  The arrancar saga was the best arc anyway, why not bring them back? :)  Alright!  I am pumped and ready for the next chapter!  I cannot wait!

It was kind of funny that Sasakibe dies, though.  Not being mean, but it's as if Kubo planned it somehow. It's not like the Vice Captain of the first division had much character development to begin with.  He was just there. Looks like he lived out his purpose.  A shitty purpose.

Oh, and just for the record . . . something I forgot to throw out there.  Back in Soul Society when the Vandenreich infiltrated the first squad's barracks, they managed to kill 106 members in 182 seconds. That's . . . 3 minutes.  I don't know if this is of any relevance, but to kill off that many members - from the first division?  I doubt that Yamamoto's division was weak.  Were they?  Looks like Soul Society has an epic battle on its hands.

P.S.  Buckbeard is a stupid name.  Just saying.

I'm back with BRS!  Hopefully I make sense because I don't really get what's going on.  I still find many things confusing and will probably have to re-watch some episodes in order to better understand the series.  However, this episode managed to shed some light on all the mystery, so here goes nothing!

The other world was created to bear the pain of the girls.  A world without emotions.  Not only that, but the world comes with your own personal fighter . . . cool.  In this world, your fighter would feel no pain, no sadness, no joy. It simply reacts on instinct and beats the crap out of another fighter.  In the past few episodes, it was proven that if one defeats the other . . . the emotional pain one felt in the real world would suddenly be forgotten and disappear. In which case, your fighter would represent your sadness. Interestingly enough, BRS was the one putting an end to all the suffering.  Being the strongest fighter, who would put an end to her sadness?

It is revealed in this episode that BRS's strength was fueled by her passive attitude and genuine ignorance of pain - ignoring pain itself.  She simply accepted pain and let it fuel her resolve to help her friends.  A selfless act? Another Madoka? lol.  Unfortunately, all that selflessness made her go insane.  Hence, insane BRS.  Like the bird in her book who takes on all the colors and eventually dies, Mato takes on all the suffering to near breaking point. The inclusive concept about shadows was also quite amusing.  The fact that a mere shadow determines their existence was intriguing. It's as if their shadow represented their emotions.  In other words, what makes you human.  But what is it that creates a shadow?  In order to have one, light must be present. You can't create darkness without light, the same way you can't experience happiness without sadness.

The shadow can also be interpreted as a linkage between the real world and the other world.  Once that shadow disappears, the linkage is gone.  In Yuu's case, it was her way of escaping reality.  By switching places with STRength, she manages to escape the pain and suffering of the real world. However, Yuu still worried for her safety, so she "hired" Saya as her body guard.  To protect Yuu, she awoke the alter egos of many girls so as to delay BRS.  At least, now we know the reason behind her actions.  I still don't know why Yuu went insane, though.  It took a turn of unexpected events.

In the end, Yomi remembers Mato and the ambiance, emitted from her, reminded me of the OVA. However, instead of Mato doing all the saving, it looks like Yomi will lend a hand this time.  It all comes down to friendship, I guess. Can't wait to see how it concludes :)

P.S.  Wouldn't it be funny if they end it with something like:
"Don't forget.  Somewhere, someone is fighting for you.  As long as you remember her, you are not alone?"

Ano Natsu de Matteru 10

                                                                    Onee-chan??

With only two episodes left, we finally get that alien goodness we've been waiting for.  Scratch that.  The alien goodness appeared 2 episodes ago along with that big alien pod and Rinon's piloting skills.  Ichika's secret was revealed since then and her relationship with Kaito has been settled(thanks to Kanna).  They are now Mr. and Mrs. Kaito-kun(no they didn't get married).  

                                           Ichika is obviously the seme in this relationship.                                                            Ichika: "What is this?"

Lemon: "It is only bubble gum Ichika - only bubble gum fu fu fu fu . . ."

Remon ftw! (^-^)d  But aren't things moving too fast Remon?  Nonsense! XD  Well in other news, Rinon is a girl.  I never knew what he/she was, until now.  After that kiss from Kaito, that is.  How was it Rinon?  Ha ha.  Moving on . . . it's starting to feel like I'm interviewing characters here.

Kanna is still upset :(  It breaks my heart to see her hurting over a kid who is not worth it. Seriously. Kaito is not good enough for Kanna.  At least, she has Tetsurou to comfort her even though it's also sad on his part. Then we have Mio.  It's like an emotional roller coaster!  A ride only the strong hearted can handle. Something they all possess.

Now, I say this because despite the emotional pain they are going through, they still have the strength to genuinely care for their rivals and endure.  I honestly don't know if I would willingly give up my true love to my friend and keep that friendship - the way Tetsurou does, or tries to do.  Mio on the other hand suffers for them both and probably endures more than the rest.  I like that her new character is more confident and unlike the others, she confessed her feelings rather quickly. She is more at risk to losing to Kanna now so in an attempt to win Tetsurou's heart she has put herself out there countless times.  That deserves my respect.  The same goes for Tetsurou.  Mio was initially the one I was rooting for in this love Pentagon, but now that Tetsurou and Kanna have confessed, it has certainly stirred my feelings on the matter.  I don't know whether this is all about Ichika x Kaito or Kanna x Tetsurou x Mio.  The emphasis varies between the two a lot.  

In many ways, the series is very similar to Ano Hana - both having the same director and all. However, very different as well.  I have not seen Onegai Teacher so I cannot comment much about that, but what I like about Ano Natsu is that it has taken a different approach from Ano Hana.  Ano Natsu has, so far, successfully delivered more character development that may or may not affect the ending of the series. Ano Hana of course had a great ending despite that detail, but because Ano Natsu admitted it - could it possibly surpass our beloved Ano Hana? I am anxious to see how things will turn out :)

Ace Railgun's 50 Questions

I'm a little late to this craze and you probably already know what this is, but in case you're wondering what it is, it was started by Ace Railgun who was suggested to do one of these by a stalker someone.  And because I happened to be stalking him at the time, I came across his 50 questions.  Soon, others joined(Delusar's Kai, Marth from Marth's Anime Blog, Anime Princess's Lostty, etc) and I realized I was missing out on all the fun :( In an attempt to get to know our fellow bloggers a little better, we answer 25 questions about anime and 25 questions on a more personal level.  Here goes nothing . . . 

Questions About Anime:

1. Who is your favorite anime character?

FUUUU!!!  This is already hard . . . um, *opens MAL*~~~Oh that's right!  Cifer, Ulquiorra.  Silly me.

2. Who is your favorite female anime character?

Honda, Tohru.  She's so light and bubbly :D

3. What is your favorite anime soundtrack?

There are plenty.  To name a few . . . Ano Hana, Clannad, Ao No Exorcist, Angel Beats! . . .

4. What is your favorite anime opening + animation?

I really like Clannad After Story's opening: Toki wo Kizamu Uta by Lia.

5. What is your favorite anime ending + animation?
K-On!'s Don't say 'lazy' really stuck with me.

6. What is your favorite anime scene?

Oh how I love those heartfelt moments!  Moments like Hinata's love confession to Yui in Angel Beats! Those tearful moments in Clannad between Tomoya and Ushio.  Ano Hana's ending scene.  I cried in all of them :'D

7. If you could meet an anime character, who would it be?

Hmm . . I love Ulquiorra, but I think I would love to meet Katsuragi, Keima.  He and I would have lots to talk about in this crappy game of a world. XD

8. What anime character is most similar to you in terms of personality?
Hinamori, Amu from Shugo Chara!  On the outside it's all cool and spicy, but on the inside . . well.

9. What is your favorite thing about anime?
That it is limitless and boundless and my escapism.

Top three(because I have a hard time choosing): Tomoya x Nagisa(Clannad), Makoto x Chiaki(Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo), and Yuuki x Zero(Vampire Knight).

Keroberos from Cardcaptor Sakura and Yoru from Shugo Chara! - that is, if he counts as an animal.

13. What anime would make a good game?
Ouran High School Host Club would make an interesting visual novel.  I would play it, at least :P

14. What game would make a good anime?

I don't play many games, but I imagine an anime based on Guitar Hero would be pretty awesome. God's of rock!!  Suddenly, Madoka takes a liking to guitar playing XD.  Yeah, I would watch that.

15. What was the first anime you ever watched?
Pokemon . . .

16. Do you think you'll ever stop watching anime?

I hope not.  At this point, only a drastic change could keep me away from anime.  This is actually the longest I've lasted with a hobby.

Shoujo and Supernatural.

Mystery.  I hate suspense.  That doesn't keep me from watching mystery, though.  I must be a masochist.

Oh yeah.  I annoy the hell out of my friends.  I annoy the hell out of my brother.  I would talk about it with my parents, but I don't normally talk to them so casually, so I don't bother them . . . but they know.  I always look to bring up the subject with others.  Of course, I won't annoy you about it until I feel comfortable with you.

Guilty Crown?  Ha ha.  Nah, probably Loveless.  DAFUQ?

Nichibros(Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou).

I recall some pretty epic battles from Saint Seiya.  Most were from Shiryu the Dragon.

Well, a girl about 5'4'', Hispanic, fair skin, brown eyes, brown hair, skinny - or so they tell me.  Am about 5 pounds under weight.  I don't know if that's a good thing.

I have no idea, but I'd definitely pick a Greek name.

33. What is your worst injury you've ever had?

It didn't leave a mark, but one time, as a kid, I flew off the swings(while pretending to be Super Man) and hit the pavement hard on my face.  I survived.  Brain damaged?  Who knows?

34. What is your worse habit?
Procrastination.  Very common thing.  I'm procrastinating right now lol.

35. Do you drink or smoke?

I don't smoke - never tried.  I do drink, but only on special occasions.  And when I do get drunk it's done legally - out of the country ;)

No.  I've considered getting a Dragon Ball tattoo, but that wouldn't look very attractive 30 years from now, would it?

37. Are you a morning or a night person?
I am a vampire.  Definitely night.  I do enjoy the feeling of waking up early, though.

No.  That's for summer days only.

If I did, they're long forgotten.  Nothing I can do now.

Yes.

Papa no Iu Koto wo Kikinasai 08, 09

Loving PapaKiki!  The story is moving pretty well.  The drama is light and not too intense, which I prefer.  It is surprisingly very bland and drama-less even though it does occasionally have its nice moments.  It is certainly no Usagi Drop.  But that's not a bad thing ;)

The conflict that arose in episode 07 was quickly resolved in episode 08.  It was of no surprise that Hina managed to win the land lady's heart as well.

However, despite having solved the problem rather effortlessly, Yuuta won't always have Hina to hide behind.  So far, we have only gotten a taste of the hardships they will encounter.  Miu and Sora have begun school again and in order to get there, they must now take a 2-3 hour train ride. In episode 09 we get to see them commute and it is already becoming a problem for Miu.

Miu, being the most well-rounded character, has the most trouble adjusting to the schedule.  Sora, on the other hand, seems to have a more positive outlook and is genuinely unaffected.  Having to wake up 2 hours earlier than usual, they must now find the time to finish their homework during school hours in order to use up the rest of the time getting home, but most of that was portrayed with Miu.  She's smart, popular, athletic . . . no wonder she falls asleep in class.  Even though she is quite mature for a 10 year old, she is still a child.  

Being the middle child, she has adult-like, yet child-like traits.  Her childish side was reflected the moment she started yearning for new shoes, she couldn't afford to buy, so it was nice having Nimura there to help mend her tired heart.  Sometimes we just need to spoil a kid ;)

Even though Nimura was wiling to buy her new shoes, it was nice seeing her more mature side brush off his offer and value the thought instead.  In return, Nimura paid for her shoe repair and made her "Cinderella" for the day. Nevertheless, when the clock struck 12(actually 6), the magic had to end. Luckily, Nimura's efforts weren't in vain. In the end, Miu left a little more optimistic.

Presently, it looks like next week's episode will shed some light on Sora.  It might just repeat the same pattern from this episode and eventually there will be one for Yuuta.  In the direction the series is headed, the most climactic scene will probably be when they finally reveal to Hina the truth about her parents. What about Raika? Will she end up marrying Yuuta?  A happily ever after indeed.

The fanservice is also pretty light.  There may have been a few taboo moments here and there, but never that drastic.  It is quite easy to get past that for this series.

Bleach Ch. 484

These last few chapters have been full of mystery.  I'm still not sure what the Vandenreich are all about.  Is that what they call themselves, or are the Vandenreich allies of the enemy?  We did get a glimpse of their secret hideout, though.

The story continues where it left off.  The Quincy/Arrancar were still there, evoking Yamamoto's impatience - Oh come on!  Leave the old guy alone.  Anyway, they never made it clear whether they were referring to themselves as the Vandenreich or if they were talking about some other enemy. Another enemy would certainly make things more interesting.  Before disappearing(by means of garganta?), they simply told Yamamoto they weren't going to reveal who they really were because it should have been easy to guess. And by the looks of it, Yamamoto had no clue.  However, Vice Captain Sasakibe revealed that they can Bankai - no shit.

Secret hideout . . .

In the mean time, Ichigo was kicking Ivan's ass.  Ivan was still processing the fact that Ichigo's Bankai was still intact.  Why does the enemy always underestimate him?  Stupid!  Hence, after realizing defeat, Ivan was picked up by a strange shadow and disappeared.  Although, not before revealing to Ichigo that the shadow only hides the chosen ones.  What?  Chosen ones?

Afterwards, the setting turns to their hideout and the Quincy/Arrancar/Hollow(whatever they are). One decides to reveal his face and act all high and mighty . . . and we could already tell Ivan and him don't get along.  But as soon as they start arguing, the cocky one gets his arm chopped off.  It turns out that the empire's king hates fights. - But not violence?

Kenpachi is that you? - Can't be.  He loves to fight~

What a two-faced king?!  He's definitely gonna get on my nerves.
