Career Change and Out of the Box Business Sense: The Entrepreneur Uncommon.
What is the Box? Where is it? What is it For? What will it do For me? And Why?
How do you get out of the box if you don't even know your in it? What is the "box" anyway. Is being opened minded the same as being an out of the box thinker?
I think the "box" can mean many things. First of all it calls to mind words like common, unoriginal, safe, acceptable,sensible, realistic, conformity, logical, understandable, reliable, and congruent.
People tend to naturally develop tendencies, and one powerful force or law that govern those tendencies is what I like to refer to as the "law of the herd". You may have caught yourself asking the inward question of what will so and so think about this or, how will this make me look. These thoughts are indicative of the "law of the herd". It is crucial for an out of the box entrepreneur to stay connected to the herd and maintain understanding but also be able to separate.
I have read a number of books on the human mind, how it works, and why we experience the things we do. I won't go into that here, it is however, quite fascinating. The bottom line is this. When we think, or "figure out", or sit down to make a decision we enter the box.
When we sit down to ponder and brainstorm and mastermind with other select individuals we are approaching the "out of box" realm of thought. Intuition is my favorite analogy to true out of the box thinking and living. Have you ever gone out into the woods, maybe by a river or some lake and been walking along and have a thought. Maybe something you saw or smelled, or heard spurred a thought. Not just any thought but a thought that was a creative and unique answer, view or question to a particular issue you had been facing? it is important for an out of the box entrepreneur to make time to do this on a regular basis.
Encouraging a real and substantial change in your life will often times be achieved through an out of the box idea. We have all heard the adage "Doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results is a definition of insanity" Einstein. Well here is what happens.
Out of the Box Tip.
Are you at a transition point in your life or career? Is something about to change? Do This. Go somewhere quiet and write down what kind of life you truly want. Really. Concentrate on your feelings as you write. Write only the things that inspire YOU. Start with words. Single words. I have used words like freedom, happy, joyous, finally free, purpose, ease, wealth. These word seem to bring thoughts that may be more inline with something that is truly you.
Don't worry about what you think you CAN have,or change. Do not look at your current situation and try to think of something that would work. Don't fix the problem. Create a picture for yourself just for the sake of doing it. Try a new approach for a change.

When we think about a problem the problem itself brings up a feeling or an impression. That feeling or impression has likely been felt before and because of this you have stored in your brain information that is pertinent to this feeling. The brain contains information. That is it. It does not contain answers. It contains information that you decide or choose to be answers. Problem is most of us don't realize we are making the choice.
We have all noticed at on time or another that our lives have some patterns that seem to repeat. Whether we like the patterns or not, they are there. The reason they are there is because we think our way through our "problems".
Want an out of the box experience? Try this. The next time you are frustrated with something or really are sick of a situation in you life, instead of thinking about the problem and deciding what you will do to remedy it do this. Create a solution. Write down exactly the way you would like your life to be in this area. Read it over then work backward to what it is your experiencing now.
Entrepreneurs are often times referred to as out of the box thinkers. Many are I suppose. Many of the great entrepreneurial advances or inventions were so simple, they could only be thought of out side of the box. Many times the way we do things or the current solution is so ingrained that we simply cannot see another option.
Remember for some fun out of the box thinking start with the end in mind. Ask your self what you really want. Write down all your ideas even if they seem stupid or unsupported by current beliefs, these could be the best ideas....

Who are Entrepreneurs and how do you become an entrepreneur
Is there an entrepreneur definition?What does it mean to be an entrepreneur, a capitalist an industrialist? What does it mean? Are you a business man or business woman? Is there a difference? Is an entrepreneur an artist? Is an entrepreneur free? What are the functions and the activities of entrepreneur?
When I think of an entrepreneur I think or a warrior for free enterprise. Does free enterprise exist as an entity or is free enterprise the rooster tail of the entrepreneurial mind. Which is cause and which is effect? How is it that, what seems like a mess to some seems to an entrepreneur a business opportunity?
What is an Entrepreneur?
According to entrepreneur start up magazines I've read there are new home business ideas, business consulting services profit consulting entrepreneur opporunities, there are home based business entrepreneurs who use the internet, and countless other names, labels, and boxes that we are putting these spirited startups in today. Apparently there is no certain education needed to be an entrepreneur. I have an uncle who is an outgoing christian entrepreneur.
The SBA and their definition or, characteristics of an entrepreneur are entertaining. I see a well formed and defined box when I read there researched reality. My view of the entrepreneur is biased to my own experience, I think that "entitles" me to say my knowledge of being and entrepreneur is thus and so. In case it don't, I'll say it anyway.
An Entrepreneurial Moment
I walked down a sidewalk on a sunny day in 1997, I took a deep breath and said with my mind and my breath and my posture "OK this is it I am doing this. I am in business." My life at the time was an unorganized mess. I had floundered, flailed, and flopped.
That very day, with that very breath like an inward sigh, I seemly inhaled a spirit of independent empowerment. I will do this. From that point I was an entrepreneur. Each morning I got up and did whatever made sense. I put business cards anywhere I saw a thumbtack, crevice or crack that would secure my proud offering.
An older man called me one day and mentioned he found a card of mine; we had a brief conversation and decided we may as well meet. I secured my first contract and was on my way. The first project I took was not exactly an entrepreneur's dream situation and it certainly was not mine. It was a nasty job. It was messy and it was tough. I did not have a lot of competition. A job no one else wanted. That was my target market in the beginning.
Entrepreneurs reading this may recall first realizing what their target market was. It felt like I had found a secret. I was what I like to refer to as a real entrepreneur. I had one year of college, I was not, by far, a business man wise in wealth. I made a decision I would be free and then I stepped into my decision and a new life lay before me. My target market continued to evolve as my entrepreneurial awareness grew more acute.
Entrepreneurial Adventure
In seven short years that business grew from a decision and literally, no contacts, to a multimillion dollar enterprise that employed over thirty people and was a branded force to be reckoned with in the industry.
I grew up in that business. It taught me who I was and who I was not. It taught me about the motives and motivations of a young man. I learned truths that previously were totally hidden to me. Entrepreneurial Insight I suppose. I learned about people and why they did what they did. I learned about business structure and business models and the gross failings of each.

An Entrepreneurs Confession
What motivated me as an entrepreneur was freedom. I unwittingly engaged in a battle that I was unprepared, unwilling, and under invested to fight. A fight for my fellow man. I was continually, playing advocate, fighting for the freedom of people who neither new it existed nor wanted any part of it. I stepped swiftly from the new freedom I found in the entrepreneurial playground into, a series of sacrificial decisions to give people the freedom they would do anything to avoid.
My original path as an entrepreneur led me to this most precious truth. This is a truth that, while it was worth it, cost me several million dollars, several years of my life, and a number of relationships that would have been otherwise rewarding. That truth is this, I am not responsible to, nor am I able to give anyone their freedom. That would imply that I in fact possess it.
The only thing I can do is give an opportunity. Not an opportunity with bait, or an opportunity with a guarantee. Just an opportunity. I tried to talk, tell and explain the great opportunity that each employee of that company had. I even did it on a one on one basis. An opportunity may as well been a toothache because no body was interested. They wanted equality. They wanted everything to be the same. They wanted things to be fair. I have learned I can not force freedom on people. That is not what being an entrepreneur is all about. The only logical conclusion that I am left with is this:

Here is the point. You need to start ( 1 hour a day) Thinking, visualizing, learning, dreaming,planning, the life you really want. You will experience real results from this alone.
Seek out people that have the life you want or are working toward similar ends. Find a way to associate with a few of them on a consistant basis.
Commit to Yourself.
Make a decision. When you find a way that others like you have used to attain what it is they really want make another committment. Make a committment to win. A committment to yourself, your family and your new life.
This is all done before you even choose the home based business, or income opportunity, that you will use. In the end the only thing that matters is you. I remember back to the spring of 2006, I was preparing for another season of commercial construction projects wondering what the heck the year had in store. Its a funny thing with that type of business, its like starting a new business every spring. Cash flow stops, employees are laid off, and everyone just seems to hibernate.
Small business profitability is simple I think at first, the less you spend the more you make, right? Well not exactly. As I went along it was obvious that if I purchased this piece of equipment or put a shop or yard in this certain location it would really pay off in the long run. Well long story short, after a office in town, 30 plus employees, uniforms, 5 or 6 work vehicles, 90 thousand a year in workers comp, stolen equipment,and bla, bla, bla, Profitability seemed to get choked right out.
I could go on and on about ways to increase small business profitability, you likely have heard them all. We live in such flow of available information, most people would have no problem making decisions on a daily basis that helped to increase the profitability of their small business. Here's a question most people won't ask: Is this the business to be in right now? That's the question to ask. Ask it when your up and ask it when your down.

Non Manual Labor Small Business
Non Manual Labor Small Business: Earn From What You Have Learned.
If you have been evaluating home business ideas, especially on the Internet you probably been dreaming of washing windows while pet sitting for the neighbor elite.
Do all these small business franchises and home business opportunities require you to check your dignity at the door? Is profitability a by product sacrificing you body and risking rabies?
Seems odd, I think anyway, that the concepts that I had when I was growing up in a small town in Michigan have turned out to be so humorous. I mean common the paper boy became the paper man and my friend's grandma's ( that's plural in both cases) work at McDonald's...... what the .......
Manual Labor is great and I'm not intending to come across like I have no respect or appreciation for it. I Do. I relied exclusively on manual labor for a number of years.
Non Manual Labor Small Business Ideas are not just ditch digging, window washing,pet sitting, pickle picking, tire washing, chore driven slavery schemes.....
I basically equate data entry and other things of that sort as manual labor too. Seems to me that many "small business franchises" or Home based business opportunities are simply buying a job. Get paid for more than a task, get paid for development and leadership!!
Franchise fees and royalties and other restrictions,limitations, and rules that come with many of the small business opportunities are just another way to trap an individual into a situation where they aren't rewarded for the hard work they contribute and the results they create.
Be as close to the customer as you can. Be paid at the point of sale. Do your own marketing. Get better at it by doing. Advertise but only pay for the advertising that works. High profit home based business ideas that educate you and make you a better business person are a two fold blessing and its important to give yourself the opportunity you deserve
To stay on topic. No not all small business ideas are manual labor based concepts, where you essentially do the dirty work and get paid whats left. Don't sell yourself short. Find a business that integrates each part of the business model into your personal control. There should be a provided service or vendor AND and a way to train you to do these more specialized business tasks yourself if you choose.
Set yourself up with an inevitability situation. Where is you did not read that post, In the future, provided you continue on the path your on and implement the specific plan you have outlined you will experience the payout you desire. Its Inevitable.
