You've been dedicated, responsible, self-sacrificing, and loyal for years and out of the economic blue: ..... you get a memo or even worse, hear a rumor that your position is being "re-engineered" or eliminated altogether. Or.... "in serious and recent evaluation of our companies ability to preform competitively in the up and coming decade we have decided to move this arm of the company overseas..."
If your open, I'm presenting the idea that the home based business industry could be the wall you really want your ladder leaning against anyway. I saw it as a way to get from here to there, using it more like a bridge.
Climbing the corporate ladder had it's time. In all reality it was only a short time.... but it seemed it would last forever. America took on sort of static attitude. An attitude like this is the way it has always been and it will continue to be this way.
Seems the entire public education system is based on this false concept, all the way to the Doctorate degree. There was another option back then... for both of us. Most of us chose the more popular choice and went to college, got the degree and then the great "secure job with benefits.... and the home... and... the...
If you have a good career, be thankful, many don't based on no fault of their own. Here is why I am typing this though. A corporate career built tremendous skill sets for you. You have likely developed people skills, time management skills, marketing skills, etc...
The way business has been run for the last decades, it has been common place to provide each employee with a well rounded experience in hopes it would make them more useful to the company in whatever position they found themselves in.
Well maybe it's your time to capitalize on your knowledge, life experience, and skill sets you acquired in your career. Thinking about what "value you can offer" instead of who might hire you next is a great line of thinking and one you may find more productive.
Corporate earthquakes have been a large contributor to the booming home based business industry, largely because people choose to look at more creative ways of utilizing their skills.
If your in "the spot" , the spot you never dreamed possible, try using that corporate ladder for a bridge to reach out instead of a narrow and disappearing opportunity to go up. Replacing a six figure per year income in this economy can be difficult depending on the industry your accustomed to, especially if your looking to do it with a job. Home Business can be a "spot remover" sorts if approached correctly.
The home based business industry could be a great fit for your situation, it won't hurt to evaluate the possibility of it being a real opportunity for you.
Home based business opportunities were built with YOU in mind. Our business is our product is the chant of the "E-Myth" culture and the franchising boom. A home business opportunity is much like the franchise business model, in that you will have a manual and simple systems in place, but you won't have the high FEES and the Audits every quarter.
Think about it. If your ladder is against the wrong wall like mine was, you may find it's as much of a blessing as a curse. At home business opportunities offer a unique result, I had before, never imagined.
